Patterns

Classic Matcha
SOURCE: KAMEYAMA, MIE, JAPAN

Patterns brings a bright and clean sweetness to our matcha lineup. Smooth and lightly floral, it balances richness with a refreshing clarity. It is gentle enough for pure sipping, and a perfect matcha to balance out milk.

This matcha hails from Kameyama, in Mie Prefecture, a region that has cultivated tea for centuries, and is renowned for its shade-grown teas (like matcha). Though less famous than neighboring Uji, our matcha from this region carries its own distinction: a sweet, silky profile shaped by cold winters, fertile mountain soils, and clear river water, season after season.

Origins

Mie lies on the east coast of Japan’s Kii Peninsula, in the Kansai region, bordered by Aichi, Nara, and Kyoto. In Kameyama – a forested region due West of Uji – tea plants rest through the winter, storing nutrients that surge forth in the first flush of spring. With its mix of mountains, rivers, and rich volcanic soil, the area yields matcha with a character both bright and balanced, reflecting the patterns of its seasonal climate.

Flavor Notes

Steamed bok choy, milk, honeysuckle. Bright and smooth, with gentle sweetness, a fresh green aroma, and very light astringency. This tea is crafted from a blend of Yabukita and Sayamakaori cultivars.
